Jennifer began her career in the financial services industry 30 years ago as a fixed-income trader in a regional brokerage firm. This background paved the way for her to join a commercial bank where she managed personal trust accounts, institutional portfolios, and a municipal bond mutual fund.
In 1999, Jennifer transitioned from her career in banking to financial planning and investment advisory services when she founded Summit Financial Partners in Richmond, Virginia. She has offered fee-only advice to individuals and corporations from the beginning.
Jennifer’s straightforward financial planning and investment philosophy emphasizes highly diversified portfolios, being faithful to regular savings contributions, and to developing a strategy that clients can maintain on a long term basis.
After living in many parts of the country, Jennifer settled in Richmond over 35 years ago. After almost 26 years of marriage, her husband lost his battle with Leukemia. Jennifer has a 11-year-old daughter and one “All American” breed dog.
Jennifer is passionate about her clients and her relationships with them on a human level. You can often hear Jennifer commenting that her clients are never far from her thoughts. Jennifer is an active member of her church and enjoys spending time with her family in the mountains of Virginia.

John is a retired Naval Aviator who completed his distinguished naval career in 2012. During his time in the Navy he served in many capacities, including: Mission Commander on the E-2C Hawkeye aircraft, Instructor at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Squadron Training Officer, Squadron Maintenance Officer, Air Wing Safety Officer, Unit Commanding Officer, and Military Planning Instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College.
During a hiatus in his military career (1998-2000), John worked as a 401K Mergers and Acquisition Conversion Specialist for the Vanguard Group and as a Six Sigma Black Belt for GE Transport International Pool/Modular Space (a GE Capital Company).
After John retired from the military, he obtained his Insurance/Securities licenses. John joined Summit Financial Partners in 2012 where his military leadership and planning experiences bring a unique perspective to the financial planning process.
John is originally from Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and has lived in Florida, Nevada, Georgia, and Virginia during his military career. Since 2005, He has lived in Chesterfield, Virginia. Most of his free time is spent with his sons Nathan, Robert and Allen. He serves as an adult leader of Boy Scout Troop 2822 and is a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Chesterfield. He also enjoys hiking, skiing, riding motorcycles, and hunting.
